To avoid this, you can protect your locs by wrapping them in a silk scarf or cap that will minimise friction whilst you sleep. Wearing this will also help with preventing lint and fluff being attracted to your locs.
Another thing that you can invest in is a silk pillow sheet. This will further minimise the friction between your locs and any head movements on your pillow. It will also help to protect your locs from “frizzing”.
Keep a basic rule of never going to sleep without protecting your hair.

Retwisting your locs too much might cause the hair follicles to break off at the roots. Do not try to retwist your hair too regularly. instead, aim for a retwist no sooner than once every 4-8 weeks.
